Do the Opposite
Would you like to know what to do when you feel stuck?
Many people will metaphorically keep tugging on the knot or kicking the dead horse because they simply don't know what else to do. But the solution is simple. So simple that most of us miss it.
It's all about doing the opposite.
There was a classic episode of Seinfeld that spoke to this in a way the entire world could understand.
In the episode, George Costanza decides that after a lifetime of every choice he made being wrong, that moving forward, he's only going to do the opposite of what he would normally do.
It's hilarious and kind of amazing to watch him make completely different choices and see him suddenly winning the girl, getting the job, and making miracles happen instead of falling into his usual tragic mishaps.
Here's the YouTube link if you'd like to see it, but what I love is that this really does illustrate a universal truth.
It can seem totally illogical at first, but within the problem itself classically lies the solution. That is what great leaders do; they flip the problem on its head in order to see the counterintuitive path forward.
And this goes all the way from "the little stuff" to "the really big stuff" in your life.
However, what can seem daunting is that it can be hard to see an old thing from a new angle and what action you need to take to access the solution.
Having graduated from the George Costanza school of life myself, this is a journey that has not only massively up-leveled my life, but this is now one of my superpowers in working with clients.
I regularly help them turn their biggest problems around, look at them from a new perspective and see the solutions that had been hiding there all along.
If you're feeling stuck, then just know there's always a solution and if you'd like a little help getting on the other side of it, give me a shout and let's talk. Let's find your inspiration.
