Inspiring Vision: Mount Kilimanjaro

Kilimanjaro

"It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves." – Edmund Hillary

My mind is focused on my next adventure, so I wanted to share a vision that is really inspiring me. Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania is the highest mountain in Africa and the highest single free-standing mountain above sea level (Mauna Kea measured from the seafloor is higher) in the world: 19,341 ft (5,895 meters) above sea level. However, most people don't realize that it is a dormant volcano consisting of 3 volcanic cones (Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira) and, in fact, is the highest volcano in the Eastern Hemisphere.

Climbing Kilimanjaro is like traveling from the equator to the North Pole because you experience five distinct climate zones on the way to the summit. The journey starts in the rainforest and travels through dry forests, moorlands, alpine deserts, and finally into an arctic zone.

So, why am I doing this? I am feeling called to explore my edges (my perceived limitations) and see what I am capable of. At this time, I desire a deeper connection with the natural world and with people on a similar journey of exploration. What is an inspiring vision that is calling you? Please share with me!
